Humanities thirst and quest for the NEW, GREATER, the SUPERNATURAL, UTMOST SATISFACTION, etc is never ending since God himself imbibed it in man. Man is made to naturally seek for more, to aspire for the better/perfection.
By the order of life, every parents joy is to see his/her offspring grow fully into all spheres of this life. A parents wish is to see the son or the daughter become good examples to family, peers and society. Beloved Just as it is in the natural order, there is an exact replica of it in the Spiritual.
EVERY BELIEVER HAS BEEN BORN.

Be full of desire for the true milk of the word, as babies at their mothers’ breasts, so that you may go on to salvation;

God’s character as a parent is to see you and me grow to assume full responsibility of our lives as believers where His nature so draws an imprint in us for others to see and glorify Him.

The text reads that “Be full of desire”, the simplest understanding here is likened to a grown up man who can’t take care of himself, or a 15 yrs old boy who is still breastfeeding. This situation is very unlikely to happen but very likely with a newly born again person in Christ.
THREE (3) REASONS TO GROW/MATURE AS A BELIEVER.

That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

The first reason why we should mature is;

  • TO BE USEFUL

The state of a child is so conditional that it’s can’t even cater for itself, cannot even speak plainly, cannot control its feelings and many more. A child cannot be given responsibility over grown ups. Thus, to be useful in the hands of the master we must desire to mature. Paul the Apostle admonishes Timothy not to appoint a novice to take the role of leadership in the church of God.

  • TO HELP MATURE OTHERS.

In the family of God we are made and divinely positioned to be interdependent to each other, this is the will of God with no controversy. A perfect allegory is what Paul makes mention of in the Book of Ephesians 4:15–16

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

He says that we all as believers are made to spiritually contribute to the growth and well-being of every beloved brother or sister. Therefore once undesirable or unfortunate effort to not grow in the grace of our lord Jesus Christ, affects the majority.

  • ETERNAL REWARDS.

One of the beautiful occasion we are going to experience in heaven is a ceremony to award overcomers. Just as on earth its the best performing that best laurels; the picture is the same. Dear one it is through maturity and experience with christ that one can do much for God.
